Metal price and calculator disclaimer

A transparent formula can improve an estimate. It cannot turn unknown inputs into a verified appraisal.

All content is general educational information. It is not a live dealer quote, assay, appraisal, investment recommendation, or personalized financial, legal or tax advice.

Price references are not guaranteed transaction prices

The static site does not provide a live market feed. Visitors manually enter a reference price into calculators. All Metal Prices does not verify that the number is current, accurate, available to the visitor, in the intended currency or based on the appropriate bid, ask, midpoint, benchmark or contract.

Market references can change rapidly. Physical transactions also reflect product, quantity, location, taxes, payment, delivery, testing, inventory, refining and counterparty terms. No calculation promises that you can buy or sell at the result.

We do not identify or assay objects

A hallmark, color, magnet response, density estimate or seller statement may be incomplete or misleading. An item can include solder, plating, filler, stones, springs, clasps and mixed alloys. Only appropriately performed testing can support a composition conclusion, and even a test may sample only part of an object.

Calculator purity presets are assumptions selected by the visitor. They are not a finding that a particular object meets the stated standard.

Contained-metal value is not total value

Coins, medals, watches, jewelry, antiques, signed designs, culturally significant objects and documented artifacts may be worth more intact than their recoverable metal. Gemstones and workmanship may matter. Conversely, recovery and transaction costs can make an offer lower than theoretical contained-metal value.

Do not authorize destructive testing, removal of stones or melting solely because a calculator displays a metal value. Investigate possible non-metal value first.

Calculations and content can contain errors

We aim to publish reproducible formulas and well-sourced research, but do not guarantee that every page, citation, conversion, link or download is error-free or complete. Browsers use floating-point arithmetic and displayed values are rounded. Source documents may themselves contain errors or contested interpretations.

Review our methodology and independently check consequential calculations. Report suspected errors through Corrections.

Historical research is not market forecasting

Accounts of past markets are interpretations of available evidence. Historical price behavior, monetary systems and trade practices do not predict future returns. Source availability and scholarship can change, and a simplified timeline cannot capture every regional or scholarly distinction.

No investment, legal or tax advice

Nothing on the site recommends that a person buy, sell, hold, store, transport, export, import or melt a metal or object. Commodity and collectible transactions can involve substantial loss, fraud, volatility, tax, reporting and legal risk. Rules differ by jurisdiction and circumstance. Consult an appropriately licensed or qualified adviser for advice about your situation.

Third parties

Links and citations are provided for context and verification. They do not imply control, continued availability, endorsement or responsibility for a third party's content, product, data or transaction. A named exchange or institution does not endorse All Metal Prices merely because it is discussed.

When to get professional help

  • the object may be collectible, antique, signed or historically important;
  • purity or authenticity is uncertain;
  • the transaction value is significant to you;
  • a test would alter or destroy the object;
  • tax, reporting, inheritance, export or ownership rules may apply;
  • an offer depends on conditions you do not understand.

Compare independent written assessments and verify credentials, conflicts and fee structures.
